Treasure collage and finger painting

Charley's friend Layla gave her a basket for her birthday (early present) - it has become her "treasure basket".  So, whenever she finds outdoor treasures (pinecones, feathers, leaves, rocks) they go into her treasure basket.  It is overflowing!  We've started a collage, and sometimes we pull it out and she glues a few more of her treasures onto it...  we usually only get 2, maybe 3 items on in a session, so it's a slow process - definitely not emptying the basket faster than she's filling it!

We made finger paint once before - I wasn't happy with the results.  I had 2 more recipes I wanted to try, so - we tackled the easier of the 2.  I think it turned out well - and she had fun painting Dave (the campground host) a thank-you card for the doll he brought her earlier in the day.  Now we just have to take it to him!

Skating, walking, and bowling

Charley thought it would be fun to get my orthotics and use them as skates...

We went for a walk to the office.  She wanted to push her bunny in the "stroller", and take Rufus's bag (a stuffed animal that my dad gave my mom when they were dating) along to use as a treasure bag.  Of course, as soon as we hit the end of our driveway and got to the gravel, the stroller wouldn't push.  I knew I'd end up carrying it - but no!  My independent girl picked it up and carried it several hundred yards, before she figured out she could drag it behind her, and with the exception of the stairs by the office, she managed it the whole way!  She found 2 rocks, a leaf and a pinecone for her treasure bag.  And upon our return, it was just too much - the tiredness set in and she broke down (see her sad face?).

Bowling in the kitchen.  This lasted about 4 minutes, then she was done - typical for activities we do...

Rod's Birthday, and the potty

Why not lump them together?  ;)

She helped put candles in the cheesecake, then blow them out.

I couldn't resist.

Layla gave Charley an early b-day present - a basket for collecting treasures!  She got right to it!

These days, I often find her in this spot, after taking herself!  YEAY!
