So Elizabeth flew in on the night of the 19th and brought the shuttle to the hotel. After a little catch-up, we slept. The next day we did our grocery shopping in preparation for 4 days of camping, then headed to Arches National Park.
| First we found a campsite. |
| Then we went and hiked The Windows. |
Next day, checked out the visitor's center.
Then we spent the day in Moab. That evening, we took another hike to Landscape Arch.
There it is!
| I like this red dirt... |
| It's prettier than the sand in my box... |
| I think I'll put it on my shoe.. |
| What the heck - why hold back? |
| Illegally exploring "off-road" |
| The nightly cloud-up event |
| Heading back out to the car |
We made one more stop, to see the famous "Delicate Arch"
Breakfast the next morning
Then we headed to Dead Horse Point SP, where we'd be camping the next 2 nights.
After setting up camp, we drove to Canyonlands NP to check it out.
Charley hiked a lot of the rim trail.
| We had lunch at a picnic table here, then headed back to our campsite to wait out the heat of the day. |
Once it cooled off, we took a hike in Canyonlands. Charley walked between 1/4 and 1/2 of a mile herself.
| Our one herp - for Rod! |
| This French girl was enamored of Charley |
| Well, really, everyone was! :) |
The next morning, we drove to Dead Horse Point and took some photos. We decided to leave a day early and head to SLC.
We spent a lazy day at the hotel. The next day we went to Thanksgiving Point. Poor Charley was REALLY sick, but I just thought she was mostly cranky. I feel so bad now for taking her!
| She did enjoy the pony rides, however. |
Then we drug her to the Natural History museum! Poor baby!
| Walking on dino bones |
| A DINOSAUR! That perked her up! |
| I love that she loves dinosaurs. |
| Way cooler than tractors. |
| Poop! |
A great end to a great trip (minus the strep throat I carried around with me for another week plus...)
