Throw-Away Society - Why is our Trash so Bad?

In 2006 I read an article that made a profound impression on me,called Plague of Plastics Chokes our Seas. It made me aware of the problem of garbage in our seas, the prevalence of it, and the effect it is having on marine ecosystems and wildlife. The world's largest garbage dump is located in the Pacific Ocean - the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Here are some videos about it:









Two very easy things you can do to alleviate the problem are:

1) Use non-disposable refillable water bottles

2) Use reusable shopping bags instead of disposable plastic bags
